Shannon Moreno is a multidisciplinary artist with over 30 years of experience in dance, theatre, choreography, and somatic practice. She began her training at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and later studied at Maurice Béjart’s renowned school, Rudra Béjart Ballet in Switzerland, where she expanded her understanding of voice, theatre, and diverse movement philosophies. Relocating to Vancouver, she deepened her commitment to improvisation and contemporary creation by studying Contact Improvisation with pioneer Peter Bingham at EDAM, developing a practice grounded in physical inquiry, presence, and embodied expression.
As a professional dancer, Shannon has worked with and been influenced by internationally acclaimed choreographers including Robert North (Göteborg Opera), Youri Vámos, Mats Ek, Christopher Bruce, and Richard Wherlock (Deutsche Oper am Rhein), as well as Maurice Béjart (Béjart Ballet Lausanne). In Canada, she has collaborated with leading creators such as Wen Wei Wang, Judith Marcuse, and Peter Bingham. Her performance career spans Canada, Sweden, Germany, and Brazil, where she has been recognized for her emotional vulnerability, physical precision, and depth of interpretation.
In 2003, Shannon co-founded Science Friction with Farley Johansson, an interdisciplinary company integrating dance, theatre, voice, and original sound. Their work has toured internationally to venues and festivals including Dancing on the Edge, Vancouver International Dance Festival, Chutzpah! Festival, Lucky Trimmer in Berlin, TanzArts Festival in Germany, Vila Dança in Brazil, and Osnabrück Stadt Theater. Their duet Lie with Me received Second Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the Choreographic Miniatures Competition in Belgrade, Serbia.
In addition to her artistic work, Shannon is a Registered Massage Therapist and co-owner of THAT CLINIC, integrating somatic intelligence, breathwork, and anatomy into her creative process.
