Farley Johansson is a multidisciplinary performer, choreographer, and contact improviser whose work spans dance, theatre, and physical storytelling. Based on Vancouver Island, he is recognized for his raw physicality, theatrical instinct, and inventive approach to stage creation. Trained in ballet, contemporary dance, and contact improvisation, Farley has performed and taught internationally across Canada, Europe, and Brazil.
In 2003, he co-founded Science Friction with Shannon Moreno, an interdisciplinary company exploring the intersection of movement, voice, and live music composition. Their work has been presented at major festivals and venues including Dancing on the Edge, Vancouver International Dance Festival, Chutzpah! Festival, Lucky Trimmer (Berlin), TanzArts Festival (Germany), and Vila Dança (Brazil). Their duet Lie with Me received both Second Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the Choreographic Miniatures Competition in Belgrade, Serbia.
In addition to his artistic work, Farley became a Registered Massage Therapist in 2016, integrating somatic awareness and bodywork into his performance practice and teaching.
